ALL THAT WAS TAKEN FROM US PERTH BOOK LAUNCH

Massive thanks to the Morley Rotary Club for hosting my Perth book launch for Dad’s memoirs, ALL THAT WAS TAKEN FROM US – A CHILD MIGRANT’S STORY, way back on 16th January. Yes, I have been lax in sharing my news, so I’m trying to make up for that now!

I don’t really enjoy public speaking – or rather, I get very nervous public speaking, even when I enjoy talking about the subject! – but if I’m prepared, I can muddle through it pretty well.

I talked a bit about Dad’s story in the Child Migrant Scheme, read a few passages from the book, and even signed some books for those who wanted a copy to take home (that never gets old).

The most rewarding part of the night, though, was realising that the details of his life story shocked and surprised his Rotary colleagues. Some of them he had known for decades – he was a member of Morley Rotary Club for some 54 years – yet he was notoriously private about the details of his life.

His really was a life less ordinary, and I’m so glad I got him to finally talk about some of it before he left us.

Thanks to Grant, Pete, Adrian and Lady Boomboom for these photos from the night, and thanks again to the good people of Morley Rotary Club for having me, and friends for attending.

As always, ALL THAT WAS TAKEN FROM US is available directly from me, through this very website, or from Amazon as an eBook or a Print On Demand paperback.
