ALL THAT WAS TAKEN FROM US KALGOORLIE BOOK LAUNCH

Huge thanks to ARTGOLD INC for hosting my Goldfields book launch for Dad’s memoirs, ALL THAT WAS TAKEN FROM US – A CHILD MIGRANT’S STORY on 2nd March.

Once again, I talked about Dad’s unusual story, his dysfunctional childhood and the circumstances surrounding his migration to Australia accompanied by his younger brothers, and we had a lively discussion about the Child Migration Scheme, Fairbridge Farm School in Pinjarra, and more.

If anyone has the stamina (HAHA!) here’s the full talk…

The crowd was very warm and interested, which certainly makes standing up there and trying to be interesting a lot easier – thank you all!

I enjoyed the opportunity to cater for the event as well, and managed to source a rabbit to make rabbit pies – one of Dad’s favourites, and catching rabbits at Fairbridge was something he remembered fondly in the book. He told me that his younger brother Garth was an expert rabbit catcher, and every time I wanted to spoil him in a restaurant I worked I would specially order in chicken livers or rabbit to make one of his favourites for him.

Deep gratitude to Artgold Inc for hosting the event, and for their financial and marketing support.

Thankyou to Juanita Kaye and Artgold for the photos, and everyone who attended for listening.

As always, ALL THAT WAS TAKEN FROM US is available directly from me, through this website, or from Amazon as an eBook or a Print On Demand paperback.
