Kalgoorlie 2020-2024 – Artgold, Shane’s play Remy & Jules, and his Boulder 125 Short Story Competition 2022 win

During Shane’s four-and-a-half years living in Kalgoorlie – the gold mining capital of Western Australia – he served on the Artgold committee for two years, and was nominated in the Literature category for the 2021 ARTGOLD AWARDS.

Shane’s one act play Remy & Jules – a modern, gender neutral, rock n’ roll adaptation of Romeo & Juliet – had its World Premiere being performed by Boulder’s Stage Left Theatre Group in May and July 2022.

In August 2022 Shane was awarded second place in the Boulder 125th Anniversary Short Story competition with his entry Rourke’s Find.

Finding safe stolen from Boulder Block. Documentation of Argus Newspaper and Kalgoorlie Miner photographed by June O’Brien, processed by Keith Quartermaine in 1980s. 35mm and 120 negatives. Photographer Katz and Flegeltaub.

Entrants were asked to write a short story under two thousand words using this photo as a prompt. Perhaps Shane will publish it his next anthology of short stories?
