Ross Knight is more often seen rocking out with his seminal band Cosmic Psychos than writing children’s stories, but here he and (band manager and director of the popular Cosmic Psychos documentary Blokes You Can Trust) Matt Weston have conjured up a delightfully simple story of an errant kangaroo poking her nose where she shouldn’t, and causing havoc as a result. Lluis Fuzzhound provides the excellent illustrations which are engaging and highly detailed, and well worth poring over.

No stranger to sheds himself, Knighty the farmer may have been drawing on his own experiences when penning the tale of Little Roo, who sneaks into a shed and is startled by the farmer, dipping her tail in white paint as a result.

Hopping away in panic, Little Roo’s paint-soaked tail leaves markings across roads and paddocks and airports and more, causing all sorts of traffic snarls and chaos. The Cosmic Psychoes even make an appearance playing at a festival Little Roo hops through.

The Incredible Tail Of Little Roo is charming and fun, and guaranteed to be a smash hit with discerning children, whilst the rock n’ roll connection will please parents with equally good taste in Aussie rock.
