AUSTRALIAN POLITICS, HUH – WHAT’S ALL THAT ABOUT?

I really don’t want to write a lot about politics here – this website & blog is about my writing (more on that in the next couple of weeks!) BUT this week’s disgraceful state of affairs in Parliament is worthy of comment.

It’s bad enough that the rats are all backstabbing each other mere hours after declaring support for each other – but they’re doing it instead of running the country. They’re putting their own greed and self-serving lust for power and wealth and influence above what they are supposedly being paid (FAR TOO MUCH!) to do.

And don’t be thinking that I am anti-Liberal. Oh no. I am an equal opportunity hater of ALL the major political parties, and more than that – the entire political system. It’s just a long, deep trough for the pigs to feed from, and everything about the system (and the closely affiliated and equally corrupt and self-serving legal system) is designed to line their own pockets at the expense of the people they are supposed to serve.

Democracy? Nah mate – you’ve been lied to. Our system is far closer to an oligarchy… but that’s a discussion for another day.

My biggest takeaway from the chaotic shambles of this week is this: Is it too much to ask that we have a Prime Minister who is not a racist, a misogynist or a homophobe? Who doesn’t want to commit human rights abuses, and who isn’t in the pocket of big business or the church? Who isn’t in it for the money or to give favours to their mates? Who wants to do the right thing by the environment and the Aussie people, and who is a dead set, legit, good person? You know, like Kiwi Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern? She’s a shining example of how to be a GOOD politician and do the job you’re supposed to be doing, that you’ve been elected to do.

Apparently it is too much to ask for as we’re stuck with another bottom feeder who is most of those things. Our seventh Prime Minister in the past eleven years, no less. Aren’t they elected to a four-year term?

But amidst all the muck throwing and back stabbing and self-serving and populace-neglecting of this week, I was reminded of an idea for a story I had a couple of years ago. About a normal guy who has had a gutful of the clowns in Canberra, and about all the lies and (‘scuse the language) the rooting of the country and its people, so he registers his own political party – the NO MORE BULLSHIT PARTY – and assembles a team of like-minded people to run for government and affect change from within.

I sincerely hope the events of this week make a few more people sick. I hope it makes someone want to change the system, because only a change to the system will change the quality of life in this country. We need a NO BULLSHIT PARTY more than anything, more than ever.

Maybe I should revisit the idea for real? VOTE ONE – NO MORE BULLSHIT!
